Formula
BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)²In US units: BMI = 703 × weight (lb) ÷ height (in)²- Adult categories: under 18.5 underweight, 18.5 to 24.9 healthy, 25 to 29.9 overweight, 30 and above obesity.

Questions
Is BMI accurate for athletes?
Not always. BMI can't tell muscle from fat, so very muscular people can score as overweight. Waist size and other measures add context.
Does this work for children?
No. Kids and teens use BMI-for-age percentiles, which need growth charts. Ask a pediatrician.
Is this medical advice?
No. It's a screening number. Talk to a doctor about your health.
